FAQs

Josh Lamb Electrician LLC

  • Will any house accept an electrical vehicle charger?

Not necessarily. A qualified electrician should evaluate the existing electrical service to ensure sufficient ampacity is available before installing an electric vehicle charger.
  • Is grounding really that important?

Grounding is indeed crucial as it serves to dissipate overvoltage from events such as lightning strikes, enhancing electrical safety.
  • What is the difference between grounding and bonding?

Grounding connects an electrical system to the earth to stabilize voltage and limit surges. Bonding, on the other hand, ensures all components are at the same potential, creating an effective ground-fault current path in case of a fault.
  • Do you provide lightning protection?

Our company does not provide lightning protection services. We adhere to the National Electrical Code, which requires bonding to the building's grounding electrode system but is not a lightning protection manual.
  • Does electricity really follow the path of least resistance?

Contrary to popular belief, electricity does not solely follow the path of least resistance. In reality, it utilizes all available paths.
  • Is copper better to use than aluminum?

Both copper and aluminum have their merits. When properly installed, aluminum is a suitable and cost-effective option. The National Electrical Code provides specific guidelines for aluminum installation.
  • How many receptacle outlets can be installed on one circuit?

Interestingly, the National Electrical Code does not specify a limit for residential applications. However, it does provide guidelines for commercial and industrial installations.
  • Is it permissible to install a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) in my crawlspace for a sump pump?

Installing a GFCI in a crawlspace for a sump pump is not permissible. GFCI devices must be readily accessible for quick operation, renewal, or inspection without requiring special tools or actions like climbing or removing obstacles.
  • Why should someone choose Josh Lamb Electrician LLC?

Josh Lamb Electrician LLC prioritizes ongoing education and actively participates in National Electrical Code panels. Our owner, Joshua Lamb, maintains hands-on involvement in field operations when necessary, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Do you offer any discounts?

We extend a 10% discount to all military personnel and first responders as a token of our appreciation for their service.
